Racine County runs north from us, and we tow there every week — from the Root River bridges downtown out to the interstate exits in Sturtevant and Mount Pleasant.
262-221-2208Highway 20 (Washington Avenue) is the spine of Racine traffic, and the stretch between I-94 and downtown is where a lot of our county calls come from. Highway 11 and Durand Avenue toward Mount Pleasant and the shopping corridor are close behind. These are busy, multi-lane roads, so we get the vehicle off the travel lane first and sort out the rest after.
Main Street, State Street, and the blocks around the harbor and Monument Square have short stalls, angled parking, and low garage clearances. If you are in a structure or in a tight downtown space, say so when you call — clearance decides which approach we take.
Douglas Avenue (Highway 32) north toward Caledonia and along the lake, plus Green Bay Road heading up out of the county, are regular runs. Lakefront wind and older pavement up there are hard on tires, and a lot of those stops end with a spare going on rather than a tow.
The interstate exits at Highway 20 and Highway 11 put Sturtevant and Mount Pleasant minutes from our usual route north, so highway breakdowns and accident recovery out there are straightforward for us. Long-distance runs from Racine down into Illinois are quoted on the phone before we head out.
